Summary

Vouch is a place-discovery social app. We collect only what we need to run the product: your account details, the places and vouches you create, your friends list, and basic interaction telemetry. We do not sell your data, we do not serve ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Who we are

Vouch (the “app”, “we”, “us”) is operated from the United Kingdom. If you have questions about this policy, email team@vouch-now.com.

What we collect and why

  • Account info — email, hashed password, name, handle, avatar, bio, birthday, interests, and persona quiz result. Required to create and maintain your account.
  • User-generated content — places you submit, vouches and comments you write, photos you upload, lists you build. This content is what the app exists to share.
  • Connections — the users you follow or are followed by, and lists you co-author with friends.
  • Device tokens — an Expo push token per install, so we can send you the notifications you opt into.
  • Product telemetry — which screens are opened and which features are used, stored in our own database. We use this to fix bugs and prioritise improvements; we never sell it.
  • Approximate location — when you grant permission, we use your device location only to centre the map view. We do not store your location history on our servers.
  • Contacts — when you tap “Find friends” and grant permission, the matching of phone numbers to existing accounts happens on your device. Only the matched user IDs are sent to our server. We do not upload your contact book.

What we do not collect

  • No location history.
  • No health, fitness, or financial data.
  • No sensitive information (race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.).
  • No advertising identifiers. We do not request iOS App Tracking Transparency permission because we do not track across apps.
  • No third-party crash reporters or analytics SDKs.

Third-party services we use

We use a small number of vendors to run the app. Each receives only the data needed for the specific function below.

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. Stores your account and content.
  • Google Maps Platform — renders the map and provides place-name autocomplete when you add a place.
  • Apple Sign-In and Google Sign-In — optional login methods.
  • Resend — sends transactional email (welcome, feedback receipts, place-approval notifications).
  • Google Gemini API — used server-side by our moderators to generate place descriptions from a Google Place ID. No user data is sent.
  • Expo Push Notifications — delivers notifications via Apple Push Notification service (iOS) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android).

Your rights

You can edit your profile at any time inside the app. You can delete your account from Settings → Delete Account; this permanently removes your profile, vouches, comments, lists, and uploaded photos from our active database. Under UK GDPR you also have the right to request a copy of your data or to lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk).

Children

Vouch is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17. If you believe a minor has registered an account, email us at the address above and we will remove it.

Changes

We’ll update this page when our practices change and update the “last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be announced in-app.
